* Russian President Vladimir Putin presented his Chinese counterpart  President Xi Jinping with a giant box of ice cream for his 66th birthday before a summit in Tajikistan.

*Terrorism as the "gravest threat" in Asia, foreign minister S Jaishankar.

On the sidelines of the CICA summit in Dushanbe, Jaishankar held bilateral meetings with the Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif--significant in view of the attacks on oil tankers this week. Other bilaterals included meetings with Bangladesh foreign minister, Abdul Momin, Bahrain's foreign minister Shaikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Khalifa, Vietnam's vice-president Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh among others.
